Iran: Islamic Unity Conference to decide on counter-Takfiri measures

Prominent Iranian jurisprudent stressed expansion of the festival for prophet of blessings; Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) paves the way for increasing unity among Muslims.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Ayatollah Mohsen Araki, Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thoughts, attended the presser held just days before the 27th international Islamic Unity Conference explaining the aspects of the event which is annually held concurrent with the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). He referred to three major parts of the schedule for the upcoming conference due on January 17-19, 2014. According to the cleric the first part is the 27th international Islamic Unity Conference which convenes members of the general assembly of proximity from across the world besides several prominent religious figures and Islamic elites. The second part of the event will be the great festival of Prophet of blessings, Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), which is to be held in several capitals around the globe and the third part will be reading poems with the theme of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). Ayatollah Araki expressed hope that awarding the academic prize of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) will be added to the schedule in the next years. Participants in this event are Shia and Sunni renowned scholars, jurisprudents from Qom and Najaf, Al Azhar professors, prominent Muslim Muftis and some other scientific and religious figures of the world of Islam. Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought stressed expansion of the great festival of Mohammad (PBUH), prophet of blessings, will pave the way for more solidarity among Muslims and that the festival will simultaneously be held in Tehran and other capitals across the world including London, Istanbul, Islamabad and Beirut. Among other parts of the Islamic Unity Conference is the meeting of the Union of Muslim Women and participation of the guests in Friday prayer of Tehran and also visiting Sunni-inhibited areas of Iran as well as a visit with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. A new part for the coming conference is an expert-level committee to discuss the proposal of Iran’s President Rouhani in the UN general assembly on World against violence and extremism (WAVE). Top Iranian scholar was asked on the participation of senior jurisprudents to which he said,” Regarding the physical situation of the jurisprudents who are mostly senile, their representatives will attend the event as we had it in previous years.” He also said a particular committee will discuss the issue of Palestine and the decisions for a future conference on “Defending Al Aqsa Mosque” will be made. On the sideline of the conference this year four committees will discuss the situation in Syria, Egypt, Iraq and Southeast Asia with counter Takfiri measures as a major theme in the committees. Annual event will also praise the proximity figures that have made the most contribution for Islamic unity and expansion of the divine religion. 27th international Islamic Unity Conference is due to be held in Tehran on January 17-19 2014 concurrent with the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), dubbed as the Islamic Unity Week./149
